Baby It's Cold Outside

The thing that sucks about New England:  winter of course!  Okay, so Michigan in my mind is much worse in terms of volume of snow and the cold, but I wasn't exactly a runner in Michigan either.  We were hit with a winter "storm" earlier last week and it put about a foot on the ground.  This meant that I spent one day shoveling versus running and another trying to run over ice and unpaved snow paths along the Charles.  This is some fun stuff.

In order to keep my momentum going this winter, I have decided to do two winter races.
The first is one that I did last year V-Day 5 miler and the second is a new one to try out, Black Cat 10 Mile.  Overall, I am in the process of training for the 10 miler and today ran a nice 4 mile run (which hurt like hell).  The last time I did a 4 mile straight was last January and it averaged a 12:55 mile.  Today my 4-mile was 11:38.  Not half bad for it being 30 degrees outside. So glad to see that this running thing is panning out for me - I shaved more than a minute off my time.  It's the little small things to celebrate!
