My workout schedule was already shot anyway, so might as well enjoy Chris's visit.
Chris is my soulmate in food and dining. Our first outing together was dining at PF Changs. Another at Wegmans. Then came the four course dinners I would prepare at my house. Chris appreciates my food, he lavishes fantastic attention on it, and really generally likes it. Then came fine dining in DC. All my most memorable meals in DC were discovered with Chris: Fish and Chips at Old Ebbit Grill, Rabbit and Escargo at Braissere Beck (that was a $100 dinner that can't be forgotten!), Founding Fathers and their smores pudding. And my last DC dinner that I would share with him - I had the mini donut holes for dessert at the Darlington House and some of the best white wine from Italy.
He is my partner in wine as well. Journeying with me to the reaches of Northern Neck Virginia, where we partook in Jalapeno Wine, the outskirts of Faquier County where we induldge in food and wine tastings at Vintage Ridge (in the pouring rain) and Chocolate Lab (at Barrel Oak) to Middleburg at Chrysalis. And let's not forget the adventure wine bar hop in DC for his birthday. What a bunch of hot messes we were running from Georgetown to Dupont.
It's only natural then that when Chris came to Boston for a weekend away, our schedule was organized by eating. Friday night was a trip down to my favorite place in Boston, the North End. We split mussels, a bottle of wine, and lots of bread (although he isn't supposed to be drinking cuz of his meds). I ordered veal, he ordered pasta. We decided to skip dessert, instead, coming back to try some beer and cheese that I had bought earlier in the day. The next day would be a European breakfast of champions with rabbit pate, pungent cheese from France, and a spinach and feta croissant. This would be followed by a late lunch of Scrod and Chips at a restaurant on the waterfront (the place with no name or something like that). Next was a Mad Men party with lots of yummy hors d'ouevres. Sunday was a delicious brunch of corn bread french toast, homemade sausage, breakfast pizza with scrambled eggs and bacon, mimosas, and a walk thru Harvard. It's only natural that we eat.
